Hermès - Jungle Jumps (Saut Hermès 2023)
Connected trampolines that send virtual horses galloping: 215,000 jumps at the Saut Hermès 2023.
Jungle Jumps is the interactive, phygital game created for the Saut Hermès 2023 at the Grand Palais Éphémère. Connected trampolines let visitors control virtual horses along an illustrated course, with a dedicated sound design and gameplay built for every generation. Beneath each trampoline, SICK LIDAR sensors capture the canvas deformation; a TouchDesigner patch processes and filters the data, which a Unity system turns into display and scoring, all in real time. I carried the idea, concept, look dev and creative technology, leading the team and the client relationship as lead creative technologist and producer. The installation recorded over 215,000 jumps.
Over 215,000 jumps recorded.
Technical details
Beneath each trampoline, SICK LIDAR sensors capture the deformation of the canvas and analyze the jumps. A TouchDesigner patch processes and filters the data in real time, then sends it to a Unity system that drives the display and scoring. The whole experience runs in real time, calibrated through a testing campaign at SuperLab to faithfully translate each jump into in-game action.
