COP21 - Interactive scale model

COP21 - Interactive scale model

A city scale model augmented through mapping, open to all during COP21.

An interactive public installation created for Efficacity as part of COP21 (December 2015), in a container set up on the quai de la Loire, in Paris 19e, free and open to all at the exhibitors' village. Working from an existing scale model, I devised a scenography and a mapping system: video projectors beneath the model and a folding mirror to fit within the height of the container, multi-scenario control via an iPad app and sound design. Various sustainable-city scenarios were projected onto the model to make the issues concrete and accessible to everyone.

Technical details

Working from an existing scale model, I designed the scenography and the mapping system: video projectors placed beneath the model, a mirror above to fold the projection distance into the height of the container, and an iPad app to launch the different scenarios, with sound design. The challenge lay in calibrating the projector-mirror setup within a constrained volume.
