Hermès — The Keys / Les Clés de la Maison
An Hermès escape game as a choose-your-own-adventure: an original, modular, exportable concept, deployed in boutiques worldwide.
"The Keys / Les Clés de la Maison" is an immersive escape game created for Hermès, presented at the Podium Hermès then rolled out to boutiques around the world, from Paris to Dubai and Tokyo, between 2023 and 2025. From a product-discovery brief, I carried its original concept: a compact, modular, highly technological version, designed to be assembled, dismantled and shipped from one boutique to the next. In groups, visitors spend twenty minutes solving a puzzle inspired by Samarkand, in a set entirely designed by Hermès Maison. The kit brings together more than 2,700 components, including 212 3D-printed parts. I held the roles of art director, lead creative technologist, technical director and producer.
Kit of 2,700+ components including 212 3D-printed parts. Deployed across several cities (Paris, Dubai, Tokyo...). 360 stop-motion shoot filmed in 2 days.
Technical details
The original concept rests on an in-house chain: RFID identification, reverse-engineering of a Socotel S63 telephone whose keys drive most of the experience, micro video mapping, real-time UWB and Bluetooth BLE tracking, a connected scale, and a bespoke iPad app serving as a viewer for a 360 stop-motion filmed in two days. The whole is orchestrated by TouchDesigner on a standalone mini PC, and starts with a single button.
